Great choice for golf

18-hole: 5,153 yards

The 18-hole course is relatively open, with few trees to trap you or block out your line, but don’t fooled into thinking you can spray the ball willy-nilly. A combination of water, rough and out of bounds make many of the holes at Sunbury quite tight, requiring accuracy off the tee and a good judgement of length with your approach shots. It’s an easy walk, enjoyable for golfers of all ages and abilities, but there is plenty to challenge the more proficient golfer too.

All The Gear

Sunbury Golf welcomes all golfers to come and hone their game on our excellent practice facilities. The outstanding feature is our 32-bay, floodlit, covered TopTracer driving range, which is within easy ordering distance of the bar. Our 9-hole Course is good for practicing all aspects of your game and we have a practice bunker where you can work on the finer points of your short game. A well-maintained putting green completes the picture. We also trolleys for hire

6th

The 6th is one of the tighter holes on the course, a short but intimidating par 4 with water running along the length of the hole down the right hand side and out of bounds on the left. At 314 yards, length is not the challenge, accuracy and judgement are. Keep your tee shot down the middle and then you need to judge your approach carefully to hit the semi-island green and bite, with the water waiting to catch you both short and long.

8th

The 8th tests every aspect of your game, from tee shot to putting. A 438 yard par 4, it has water running along the right hand side but if you err too much to the left you run the risk of running out of bounds or blocking yourself out. Your second to the green needs to take account of bunkers short right and left but take note of the pin position too. The three-tier green is one of the trickiest on the course.

12th

The 12th is a 342 yard par 4, which doglegs left. If you can hit with draw, just be careful of overcooking it or you might end up in the water, which runs down the left. Anything drifting too far to the right will be dicing with the large fairway bunker. The green is raised, with trouble awaiting you long and left, but if you can hit the heart of the green, a birdie could be on the cards.
